Nell’s Book Hunt — Second Of The Day
Hi! It’s Ivana again. I just couldn’t wait to share this bit of news. Look what just popped up on my computer as now available on Kindle!
Publisher’s Description: Every two hundred years or so, shimmering Threads fall from space, raining death and black ruin on Pern. The great dragons of Pern hurl themselves through the beleagured skies, flaming tongues of fire to destroy deadly Thread and save the Planet. But it was not Threadfall that made young Menolly unhappy. It was her father who betrayed her ambition to be a Harper, who thwarted her love of music. Menolly had no choice but to run away. When, suddenly, she came upon a group of fire lizards, wild and smaller relatives of the fire-breathing dragons, she let her music swirl around them. She taught nine of them to sing. Suddenly Menolly was no longer alone — she was Mistress of Music and Ward of the dazzling fire dragons.
I have been waiting and waiting for what for me were the first three Pern books ever to come out in Kindle format. I fell in love with these books at a pretty young age. If I remember correctly, it was after reading the Harper Hall trilogy — which were housed in the kid’s section of the library — that the librarians graduated me to “upstairs” — the adult part of the library — so I could continue reading books in the Pern series. I remember having absolutely no idea how to conceptualize “thread” falling from the sky and why it was so dangerous, but I fell head-over-heels in love with the idea of a loyal and loving dragon riding on my shoulder and being my best friend.
I think this trilogy is the last of the Pern series to be published electronically in the US. *I* haven’t been able to find the others, at least. I’m SO very excited.
