On Silver Wings by Evan C. Currie
A wonderful science-fiction tale that blends military, science, tech, and drama, read by the wonderful Dina Perlman.
Publisher’s Description: In the future, mankind has colonized other worlds, mined asteroid belts, and sent ships so far into the blackness of space that light from their drives won’t reach Earth for centuries. Through it all, life has been found in almost every system we visited and yet we’ve never encountered another intelligent species.
When the Colony on the planet known as Hayden’s World stops transmitting on their CASIMIR FTL system, a Solari Fleet Task Force is sent to investigate. When they arrive there are enough oddities in the situation that they in turn send in a special operations unit to contact the colonists and determine what happened.
Only one of those operators survives to make planet fall.
Sergeant Sorilla Aida finds herself against an alien force of unknown power and capability. Her only assets? A depleted suit of power armor, her rifle, basic kit, and a few hundred Hayden born civilians looking to take back their home.
Just what she was trained for.

Kat Mandu says…
Sergeant Sorilla Aida is a kick-ass heroine navigating a world that is harsh, unpredictable, and scary. What is supposed to be an average mission on Hayden turns into disaster when the soldier crash lands and starts receiving problem after problem. From resistance from Hayden’s inhabitants to Aida’s own suit turning against her, this book is full of wonderful twists and turns, action, and crazy science.
Great storytelling by the author and fantastic narration by Dina Perlman, I was glad to have the chance to listen to this. With the audio at hand, it was nice to bring each voice to life and know exactly how each name, location, and piece of tech was pronounced. This is a great start to a space opera series that holds new promise with every chapter and every installment.
