Nervous Nellie’s nervousness necessitates knowledge of the novel (in other words, SPOILERS!)

My first love is the romance genre.  My sister started me with Harlequin Teen when I was 14.  I may wander from genre to genre, but I do love a good romance every once in awhile.  Ok.  On to the review.  I have a need to go through my review novella by novella because these stories were too outstanding for them to not be addressed individually.

The namesake of this book is the first novella in the book.  On the Hunt by Alexandra Ivy  is everything you want for an evening read before bed.  It’s got the “highblooded” in it and they are a super breed with abilities. Of course it’s a quick story and there isn’t much of a plot beyond reuniting the hero and heroine after saving the heroine from certain death, but I like that kind of story after a stressful day.  It’s very well written and WOW! Talk about a hot reuniting, if you get my drift……

Next, Scorpius Rising by Rebecca Zanetti.  Now, ya’ll have heard of Rebecca Zanetti.  She zings.  This story is about a pandemic that brings a military ex-husband a legit reason to be around his wife.  I need to explain the wow level here.  It’s tipping the meter.  No paranormal in this story, but I will say that ex-husband is one determined and sexy Scot.  He is the epitome of alpha.  Highlander alpha, no less-with a brogue. *sigh*  He’s a soldier, a fighter & survivor.   You all know what that means – his attitude and sex drive is not for the faint of heart.  As a matter of fact, my heart fainted a couple of times for sure. She is a brainiac that is under great pressure to solve the pandemic while being stalked by one of the infected.  He will protect her at all costs.  She will stand beside him at all costs. This story is a fantastic piece of work.  The characters are believable.  The story plot is more than believable.   I do not suggest it to be a read before bed.  Action packed, page turner and a major domination romance.  Whew! Incredible!

After that comes Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall.  Ok.  Honesty time.  Dianne Duvall is the author of one of the series in the romance world that I just can’t get into.  I have tried numerous times, but her writing doesn’t flow correctly in my imperfect brain.  The Immortal Guardians hunt vampires nightly in hopes of controlling the population that regularly feasts on poor unsuspecting humans.  Right there should tell me that I would love the series, but what can I tell you?  I’m weird.

badge4v4Lastly, we have Stake Out by Hannah Jayne.  The Underworld Detection Agency offers medical, dental and afterlife insurance.  This story is a quick murder mystery that doesn’t start with murder, but with a newbie vamp taking a “bite” out of fashion models in Manhattan.  Nina is a fashion designer and a very popular one at that, but she is also undercover with the Underworld Detection Agency.  She has to run around trying to avoid the cops, avoid getting killed and find this newbie vamp before she does damage that will not be easy to cover.  This novella is fluffy, humorous and fun.
