November Anticipated Releases
Ya’ll know I get excited for new releases. There are so many good books out there in the great world, and there are always more. I pray I get to live long enough to read them all. Yeah, right. Like that is gonna happen!
First off, lets start with one of my FAVORITE authors. If you haven’t read his work, please think about doing so. The world he creates as well as the characters are deep and vivid. The narrator he has for his audiobook is darn good too. It’s been bugging me through all of James’ books, if I were to cast Yancy on my Pinterest board, who would I pick? It finally dawned on me that the late, great, Steve McQueen would do just the job. He needs a little roughing up, but Steve could play pretty convincing Yancy, I think. This is James’ 3rd novel in Yancy’s world and it is a must read in my opinion. As Josh Randall would say, “Let’s go.”
Title: Wendigo Rising
Author: James A. Hunter
Series: Yancy Lazarus #3
Publish: November 3, 2015
Description: Bigfoot is real. Yancy Lazarus—mage, bluesman, and rambler—knows because there happens to be a nine-foot-tall, walking myth standing in the road, flagging him down.
Yancy just can’t escape his reputation as a supernatural Fix-it man even when cruising through the forgotten backwoods of Montana. Turns out Bigfoot has a serious problem on his hands: one of his own has gone rogue, developing a taste for the flesh of humans and Sasquatch alike. A greater Wendigo has risen for the first time in thousands of years and if Yancy can’t stop the creature it could be a slaughter for the residents of a rural Montana town.
But even with the monstrous threat looming on the horizon, Yancy has bigger fish to fry. He’s working as an agent of Fate, attempting to put the kibosh on a nefarious scheme, aimed at upsetting the tenuous balance between the supernatural nations. When your boss is Lady Luck, however, nothing is ever left to chance, and his two cases may have more in common than it appears. If he can’t figure out the missing link it could usher in a new world order: an age of inhuman creatures and walking nightmares … one where Yancy Lazarus doesn’t exist.
Next, is Eileen Wilks twelfth novel in the World of the Lupi. This long running series is one of Ivana’s go to stories. I know she has strongly urged me to give it a try. I have the books, but I have to make the time.
Thanks to the mindspeech lessons she’s receiving from the black dragon, Lily is temporarily benched from Unit Twelve—until her brain acclimates and the risk of total burnout passes. At least she has her new husband, lupi Rule Turner, to keep her occupied.
But when her mentor calls in a favor and sends Lily to a murder scene, she’s suddenly back on active status—despite the hallucinations she can’t keep at bay. With one touch, Lily knows the man was killed by magic, but her senses don’t warn her how far the conspiracy goes…
A shadowy force within the government wants to take Unit Twelve down, and they don’t mind killing to achieve their goal. With none of her usual resources, Lily is up against impossible odds–because with her mind in disarray, she can’t trust anything she sees.
OMG. This series is such a kick-ass series. Ivana and I reviewed One Wilde Night and Getting Wilde previously and I believe I can safely say that we both loved it. It’s got a little bit of everything in it and it’s a page-turning fast adventure. so be sure to hold on for the ride.
When an antique gold show comes to Vegas, Tarot reading artifact-hunter Sara Wilde’s job is simple: to locate and liberate a set of relics rumored to give their bearers access to an ancient, incredible power. Yet within the Connected community, whispers of a war against magic draw every psychic, mystic, warlock, and witch to Sin City. The most powerful Connected covet the infamous relics, but no one wants them more than Sara’s client–the insufferably arrogant, criminally sensual, and endlessly evasive Magician.
And what the Magician wants…Sara’s heist takes a turn for the trickier as the smoky-eyed specter from her past, Detective Brody Rooks, is assigned to investigate a break-in at the gold show, forcing her to confront the one man in Vegas she can’t bluff. Even worse, just as she finally gets her hands on the goods, the game twists anew. The resulting chase leads her across the world to an ancient Egyptian temple filled with secrets, deception… and hints about her own abilities that could change everything. Desperate for answers, Sara is forced to turn to the one person she knows will manipulate, obfuscate and beguile to get whatever he craves. Only now, it seems, the Magician wants her.Sometimes, when the deck is stacked against you… you’ve got to play the Wilde Card.
This book is on Ivana’s list. It’s now on my list. I bought book one, just this morning. I’d never heard of it before, but the description sounds particularly interesting. Sometimes that Ivana is a little onery – keeping the best books for herself. Sheesh! 😉
