Holiday Romances – Naughty or Nice?
‘Tis the season for Holiday Romance. The Hallmark Channel is playing their Holiday movies, which I love, and publishers are releasing their HEA (happily ever after) Holiday Romances. I get that I like my mysteries and mayhem more than one person should, but when it comes to this time of year, I cannot resist the pull of those romances. Vampire, Regency, Shifter, it doesn’t matter. Ruby Lee is firmly on the contemporary side of things, so when you read our list, there should be just about anything. Which will you pick? Naughty……..or Nice?
Title: The Duke and Miss Christmas
Author: Amelia Grey
Description: Miss Gwen Prim is mortified that she attacked a duke, but even more concerning is the way her resolve melts when she’s near him. With the magic of Christmas in the air, she may end up with a proposal she didn’t expect.
On Nell’s Nice List~ I like regency romances during the season. This one isn’t adventurous, it’s about a duke setting his sights on a lady and nothing more. Nice feel good novella.
Title: Christmas with the Billionaire Rancher
Author: Mandy Baxter
Description: Nate wants to stay away from all the women who want his money. Chloe cannot get enough of Nate-she’s never felt more wild with desire in her life. The only problem is, she needs Nate’s money. Is their passion enough to still Nate’s fears that she’s only wants him for his big bank account?
On Ruby’s Naughty List ~This story is Naughty with a capital N. I would give the romance a rating of an R+ and I loved every minute of it. The characters were written vividly and the story line was fun with a little drama. I would recommend it for any reader that wants a more aerobic romance story. You just don’t want to be in public when you read it.
Title: Snowflake Wishes
Author: Maggie McGinnis
Description: When Noah Drake returns to Echo Lake to see if there’s any chance the flame between Piper Bellini can be rekindled, he never expects to spend the night holed up with Piper in a roadside diner while a blizzard rages outside. This time, Noah may have been handed a Christmas miracle, and he intends to make all of his and Piper’s wishes come true…
On Ruby’s Nice List~ This was a sweet but sexy Christmas story that should be the next Hallmark movie. This story had many plots points with characters that had a lot of depth to them. That is hard to do with a short story but Maggie McGinnis mastered it here.
Title: Hunted Holiday
Author: Mandy M. Roth
Description: Dani Malloye hates the holidays, and with good reason. Her best friend tries to force the Christmas spirit on her with giant Santas and elves that light up, but she’d rather spend time with her sexy boss, Cornell Sutton.
On Nell’s Naughty List (just barely)~This is a vampire romance that has that 200 year old vamp falling in love with the 23 year old girl. She’s got a little gutter mouth and it’s a little suggestive, but it’s good for a quick holiday hookup.
Title: Christmas at Evergreen Inn
Author: Donna Alward
Description: Lainey Price is not looking forward to Christmas, until Todd, the handsome police officer, has to spend a night on the couch in her tiny cottage. But when the weather takes a turn for the worse, the two are snowed in for a wintry evening by the fire. With Christmas only a few days away, can Todd convince Lainey to open her heart to the season…and love?
On Ruby’s Nice List~ This one almost made the naughty list as the romance pushed the PG-13 limit but a little more romance never hurt anyone. Christmas at Evergreen Inn is a lovely Christmas story that is perfect to read when the Christmas lights are glowing and the snow is swirling outside. It will make you want a police officer to spend a night on your couch.
Title: Hot Toy
Author: Jennifer Crusie
Description: Mayhem ensues under the mistletoe as a determined shopper grabs the very last hot toy action figure off the shelf, only to find herself plunged into the middle of a real-life spy game and in the arms of a sexy secret agent…
On Ruby’s Naughty List~ Hilarious. That is the first word that comes to mind when thinking about this story. The dialogue was masterfully done, and I found myself laughing out loud at several different parts. The plot of this story caught me off-guard and went in directions that I didn’t even imagine. I am putting this on the naughty list not for the romance (which I rate at a PG) but for intrigue and sexual tension. This is not your mother’s Christmas story.
Title: On the Naughty List (anthology)
Author: Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, Beth Ciotta, Sugar Jamison
Description: Lori Foster has two co-workers plan a Christmas party side-by-side-and discover a love worth celebrating in Christmas Bonus. Carly Phillips explores a “mistletoe moment” when a no-nonsense lawyer intent on seducing her boss meets his twin instead–and gives him a scintillating kiss that leaves him begging for more in Naughty Under the Mistletoe. In Sugar Jamison‘s Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas, former wild child Dina Gregory returns home to New York to find the father of her young son. Instead, she finds his stuffy older brother, Ben. Beth Ciotta brings two friends who, after years apart, together at home for the holidays. Are they are better off as “just friends”? Or could it be that true love was there all along? in Some Kind of Wonderful.
On Nell’s Naughty List~ This a perfect read for variety….and when you don’t want to get up to change out a finished book for a new one. My favorite was Sugar Jamison’s book. I’m a sucker for that kind of story.
On Ruby’s Naughty List~ I will pick up anything written by Lori Foster which is what drew me to this anthology, and Lori did not disappoint. However my favorite story was Mistletoe Moment by Carley Phillips. Just enough naughty and nice to make it perfect.
