Luna_Lovebooks_100Luna Lovebooks says…

As with the first book, there is very little that I did not like. The language was still rough and choppy and there was minimal punctuation but I was expecting it this time so I got used to it a lot quicker and think other readers will too. It starts off a little slow but it picks up very fast and keeps that pace.

There are so many reasons to love this book. One of them is the fact that Young gets real about post traumatic stress. After killing her friend in Blood Red Road, Saba is dealing with the effect it has on her in the first part of this book. Her relationship with her brother is strained and she is filled with doubt. It connects with readers. We learn more about Saba and it brings us closer to her. We feel her undying loyalty to Jack and our heart breaks with hers when it appears that Jack really has betrayed them all. We sense her mistrust for DeMalo and her bewilderment that she wound up in the bed of the enemy. But not everything is as it seems in this book.

badge4v4I love the fact that this book focuses more on character development and less on the beautiful dystopian world. To me, this is what makes a great book. When readers connect with characters and the world is so real it is like you are in it, that’s magic that you want to share with the world. That magic is why I would give the second book a four.
