Nell’s Opinion and Sunday Book Hunt 10.9

Welcome to One Book Two. I love free books, so I go on a hunt to find them every week and then share my finds with you.  It’s kinda like Indiana Jones searching for artifacts…without snakes.  BUT BEFORE I show you my finds, I will subject you to a little thing called my opinion.

Today’s subject is:  Audiobooks – what do you do when you hear the Nervous_Nellie_100same character in two different series?

Freaks me out a little.  Here I am driving down the interstate listening to my brand new audiobook for a new series and WHAM! The narrator for this series is using a voice of a character from a different series.  What’s worse is that the character in the other series died!  Crap! Slade, you better go tell your brother, Talon, that you are still alive!  Ahhh!

I can’t fault the narrator because they only have a certain amount of voices to draw on.  I can’t imagine the difficulty to narrate a story and keep the character voices identifiably different.

Here’s a story: I was listening to a new series that I bought on a whim.  I mean, I didn’t even check reviews for it! Very out of character for me.  Anyway, I was listening to this audiobook and the man that was narrating sucked me in.  He is now and forever going to be the voice of Alec Harbinger, P.I.written by Adam Wright. His name is Greg Tremblay and he is better than good.  In this series, he switches from a British woman to a Scottish man with nary a hitch.  He ranks right up there with several other favorite narrators.  Khristine Hvam, Traci Odom, James Marsters and Johanna Parker are a few that I enjoy listening to.

I am so glad to be in the age of audiobooks and the technology that goes along with them.  Heck, I was thrilled when books on tape went to CD.  Not showing my age, much, huh?

Now on to the part you really came here for:

img_0205Title:  Dangerous Passage

But it doesn’t take long for them to realize that there is much more to the case than meets the eye. As they venture deep into a sinister world of human trafficking, Avery and Jackson are taken to the very edge of their abilities–and their hearts.
Dangerous Passage exposes a fully-realized and frightening world where every layer peeled back reveals more challenges ahead. Romantic suspense fans will be hooked from the start by Lisa Harris’s first installment of the new Southern Crimes series.
