North Iowa Book Bash #NIBB2018
Yesterday Ivana, Percy and I went to the North Iowa Book Bash. I will tell you one thing about this event. This event was soooo good it outshined the Kansas City event that Ruby Lee and I went to last weekend and that was put on by a publisher. Seriously, Indie is the way to go, people. This was mostly a romance heavy book con, but there Fantasy, LGBTQ, Erotica, Young Adult, and Mystery.
This book bash was sponsored and put together by BF Bookies. This bunch of folks went all out and worked their tails off to give the fans and readers a fun day of books, swag and author love.
There were prizes to be had, lunch was served, books to be bought and 50 authors to meet and greet. Some authors came from quite a distance where some were Iowa and Minnesota authors that came together for some good old Midwest hospitality.
News has it that there will soon be a book #5 in the Halfway Witchy series that will be titled *covertly looking each way for those that are eavesdropping*
Halfway Wrapped, Halfway Witchy #5
Along with his newly written and released book:
Title: A Touch of Frost
Author: Terry Maggert
Release date: April 7, 2018
Publisher’s description: Gideon Frost is the last survivor of Ravenwood, an orphanage scheduled for destruction at the hands of a vicious politician. Over the past century, hundreds of children have vanished, lost forever to witches who use their souls as fuel for life everlasting.
On the run and alone, he’ll find help in an unlikely place, when the missing children reach out to him from the land of the dead, asking him for the one thing he can deliver.
But Gideon won’t fight alone. Samira Alexander is a sorceress who can bridge the worlds between life and death, and she’ll stand beside him as they fight against the killers who want far more than just Gideon’s silence.
They want his power. They want his soul. But Gideon won’t give up either without a fight, and the witches of Ravenwood are about to learn a painful lesson.
Let me tell you, I am ready for the current ice and snow storm going on today. All I have to do is settle in and I’m all over this book. Did you read the description? Sounds good, doesn’t it? Yeah, I thought so too. Well, what you might not know about Terry is he’s kind of into history and he found his inspiration from this true life story from Tuam, Ireland. Please don’t read about that place unless you have a strong constitution. Anyway, Terry took this story and wove it into a fantasy world with ruthless witches and a mystery that has been covered up by a villainous politician. Be sure to pick up yours when it’s released.
The rest of the authors at the NIBB were bonus. The Indie authors that were there were awesome. They were warm, friendly and anxious to tell about their works of art. It was incredibly fun. Needless to say, I ran out of money before I ran out of books I wanted to buy. Here are a sample of the awesome people I saw.
This author is a super lady and a devoted grandmother. The book I bought from her was a corroboration between her and her grandchildren. The kids named the characters, came up with the idea of the Soul Mate Tree which, in my opinion, is awesomely cool, figured out how to kill the villain and it’s still not quite readable for kids. Yep, it’s adult oriented, if you get my drift. I bought the book and I will be sure to review it soon.
