Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 7/28/2019
Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip. Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.
Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.
- I haven’t looked to C.E. Murphy for a book for awhile. Walker Papers series was pretty darn cool but, to be honest, I lost interest around the third to last book and never finished. I’m rather ashamed of that fact, because I really did enjoy the series. If I recall, something happened to the main protagonists mentor and I couldn’t handle it, so I quit. Yeah, I know, but that’s why they call me Nervous Nellie. Anyway, this series started in 2016 and it looks pretty good. I’m thinking I might need to give it a whirl.
A man so ancient his early history is lost to time.
A woman who has nothing to lose…
Lorhen, oldest and most ruthless of the immortal Timeless, put aside the sword long ago for a quiet life. But peace doesn’t last forever, especially for a man whose age can be counted in epochs, and the mortal life he’s built unravels as the Keepers, a society of historians who record Timeless lives, learn that he’s been hiding in their midst.
Then an archaeologist’s claims of finding Atlantis brings back millennia-old memories, and Lorhen is drawn unwillingly into intrigues aeons in the making—and deadly enough that he may yet face the heartstrike blow that will unleash his power on the world….
- I was never a fan of Ilona Andrews. I tried, believe me. Ivana can be quite convincing since she is a tried and true reader of all things Ilona, but the Kate Daniels series never did it for me. I really need to try again because I’m a firm believer that mood, timing and the moon all have something to do with how a person syncs with a book. Anyway, I stumbled across Ilona Andrews series, Innkeeper Chronicles, and I’m intrigued. I’m going to give this one a listen.
Title: Clean Sweep
Author: Ilona Andrews
Series: Innkeeper Chronicles #1
Release date: December 2, 2013
Description: On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is…different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, “normal” is a bit of a stretch for Dina.
And now, something with wicked claws and deepwater teeth has begun to hunt at night….Feeling responsible for her neighbors, Dina decides to get involved. Before long, she has to juggle dealing with the annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evans—an alpha-strain werewolf—and the equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland, while trying to keep her inn and its guests safe. But the enemy she’s facing is unlike anything she’s ever encountered. It’s smart, vicious, and lethal, and putting herself between this creature and her neighbors might just cost her everything.
- While I was looking at books at 3 am (I know – like I need more books), I found this series that looks really interesting. It’s by an author I’ve never tried but the reviews are good. And if you MUST know, yes, I added this one to my TBR pile.
I’m Alana Mitchell, and for my twentieth birthday, I got a brand-new magical destiny instead of the laptop I was saving for.
I’m a witch. I have powers I can’t control, enemies I know nothing about, and a legacy I can’t begin to grasp.
A renegade demon and his brother rescued me, but they are driving me crazy with their I-know-better attitudes, beckoning stares and stupidly handsome faces.
I want to hunt the bastards that destroyed my future, but the brothers’ past is catching up to us in the form of a smart, bitter, and deadly enemy, one who will stop at nothing to possess me.
To survive, I must embrace the darkness simmering inside me and unleash the devil within, no matter the consequences…
