Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 10/27/19
Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip. Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.
Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.
I have a favorite author that has been unleashing books unto the world. So much so that I have not kept up. He writes pure magic…literally. Meet Steve McHugh, again.
The last Hellequin Chronicles book WAS officially Scorched Shadows, but then came The Avalon Chronicles, which is listed as books 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3. Steve is tricky that way. After the trilogy of The Avalon Chronicles, Steve moves on to The Rebellion Chronicles. Further down this post I have attached the first couple of paragraphs in Sorcery Reborn, obtained directly from Steve’s website. This is the first book in The Rebellion Chronicles. After that is the link to Steve’s website in order to read the whole first chapter. I tell you this with one warning. You will not be able to read Sorcery Reborn until after it’s released November 28, 2019. This first chapter will suck you in quickly. You will want the book right away to continue on the journey. Good thing there are plenty of books in the series prior that you can re-read. Just warnin’ ya.
Title: Scorched Shadows
Author: Steve McHugh
Series: Hellequin Chronicles #7
Release date: October 17, 2017
Description: In the final chapter of the Hellequin Chronicles, secrets will be revealed, friendships will be tested, and destinies will be fulfilled.
Avalon is under siege. A shadowy cabal, headed by a mysterious figure known only as “My Liege”, has launched a series of deadly attacks across the globe, catching innocent human bystanders in the crossfire.
Emerging from the debris of battle, Nate Garrett, the sixteen-hundred-year-old sorcerer also called Hellequin, and his friends must stop My Liege once and for all. But powerful forces stand in their way. To save Avalon, they will need to enlist the help of Mordred, once Nate’s greatest nemesis, now his most formidable ally. But Mordred is grappling with a dark prophecy that could spell Nate’s doom…
The fate of the world hangs in the balance. Even if Nate can halt the war, will there be anything left worth saving?
After losing his powers in an epic battle between good and evil, former sorcerer Nate Garrett finds himself living as a humble human in Clockwork, Oregon. While the world thinks Nate is dead, his friends continue to fight against Avalon and the evil it’s intent on spreading.
Avalon’s forces turn up in Clockwork, and Nate’s frustration grows with every passing day his magic doesn’t return. He finds himself trying to stop Avalon’s plans while hiding from enemies who would destroy everything in their path to see him dead.
Avalon’s darkness begins to threaten the people Nate cares about, and an old nemesis returns; magic or no magic, he has no choice but to fight. But will Nate see his magical powers reborn before the entire town—and everyone he loves—is destroyed?
Paragraphs obtained directly from Steve McHugh’s author website.
A year. I’d been told it would be a year. Gotta be honest: that hadn’t turned out so well, had it?
Clockwork was a town of just over seven thousand people, the majority of whom appeared to be quite nice. Acknowledging that being a solitary loner who never spoke to anyone was a pretty good way to screw up your mental health, I’d made sure to make a few friends in my time here. While the last two years had sucked on more than one occasion, having friends was one of the good parts.
I’d introduced myself to Clockwork as Nate Carpenter, Nate Garrett being, for all intents and purposes, officially dead. I’d used the surname of my best friend from my old life. Tommy was one of the people I missed seeing the most.
