Nervous Nellie says…
Yep. I read a holiday book before Thanksgiving was even here. Why? Well, I was feelin’ the holiday. I mean, seriously, how is a person supposed to wait when Hallmark Channel is promoting Christmas movies? Anyway, this book was a re-read and like all Jeaniene Frost books, it was awesome.
This book was #6.5 in the Night Huntress series. I’ve re-read #1-3 and it seemed like a good idea to see if I remember the Christmas edition. I can safely say that I did not remember all aspects of the story.
Long story short- Cat and Bones invite friends to their house for Christmas. This story has an element in it that makes me sad for Bones, but also shed more light on the characters as a whole. I don’t think you’d really “miss” a lot if you didn’t read it, but the story had some jaw droppers in it that I really appreciated. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it really added more depth to the characters. More background. More identity.
I did have one problem with the story. I know that Menchares is incredibly strong in mind and body, but I would have thought his life experience would have made him clue in on what was happening. However, then Cat wouldn’t have been able to save the day. I guess I can’t have it both ways, right?
As always, there is a ton of blood, gore, explosions and sex. I give it a 5.
