Demon Ensnared by Jenn Stark

The best Demon Enforcer yet.  He risks everything to do his job.  She has been chosen when she was a child.

Title:  Demon Ensnared
Author:  Jenn Stark
Series:  Demon Enforcers #4
Publish Date: November 12, 2019
Publisher’s Description:  You’re always stronger in the broken places…

Angela Stanton has it all—the brilliant mind, the political job that can make a real difference, the townhouse full of strays she attracts wherever she goes. She’s also got a secret that nearly destroyed her when she was a child. A secret she’s buried so deep, it can’t hurt anyone anymore.

Until now.

Gregori of the Syx, a gifted empath, has avoided all human emotion since he became a demon. Now he must convince Angela to trust him with her deepest pain, revealing a truth that could change the role of demons on earth forever. Unfortunately, the intensity of this particular human connection might also shatter what’s left of his soul. But this time, he won’t turn away.

Falling in love can utterly end you when you’re a Demon Ensnared.

Nervous Nellie’s nervousness necessitates knowledge of the novel. In other words …SPOILERS. *BEWARE*

Nervous Nellie says…

I loved this book.  I enjoyed the three books before this one, but this one was very powerful.  This demon enforcer is an empath and he endures a LOT of pain for God’s children. I think he is the one demon enforcer that has been punished the most for his sins.

I would have to suggest that you have at least become familiar with the Immortal Vegas series or the Wilde Justice series.  The reason for this is that there are cameos of the members of the Arcana council.  They have involved themselves in the destiny of humanity.

There is blood and gore, naive politicians and a bit of sex.  The premise is pretty simple but it’s not obvious.  It doesn’t become obvious until around 3/4 of the story, however, I didn’t even notice how many pages flew by until the story was building for the end.  I read it all in one day and again, I feel it was the best Demon Enforcer yet.  I give it a 5.

Our reviews in this series…

I received an ARC or review copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.

Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 9/29/19

Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip.  Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.

Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.

Hey, all.  Got a book done this week, so I’m feeling good about that.  There are some really good releases coming up which I’m excited about.

  • I think this series is a super series…super but *deep breath* a roller coaster ride.  Ms. Bateman really knows how to capture an audience.

Title: Dark of the Moon
Author: Sonja Bateman
Series: The DeathSpeaker Codex #9
Release date: September 23, 2019
Description: On the bright side, if this didn’t work, I’d be too dead to worry about forgiveness.

Heartbroken and furious on the heels of a devastating loss, Gideon Black heads to the Fae realm of Arcadia, reluctantly bringing along a pair of old friends who’ve sworn to help him even after he insists that he’s going alone. Because what he’s planning to do there has a high risk of deadly failure.

His self-appointed mission: to face down a god, and to restore a life that was stolen from him.

To bring someone back from the dead.

But nothing is simple when it comes to the gods of the Fae. The DeathSpeaker soon finds himself battling his way across the realm in search of the ancient keys, lost to the ravages of time, that will enable him to enter eternity and come back alive.

And through it all, the greatest challenge lies in what should be the simplest task: convincing the object of his quest that he’s worth saving.

  • Speaking about capturing an audience.  Jenn Stark is the QUEEN!  I love her Sara Wilde books and now her spin off series, Wilde Justice explores the exploits of the Arcane Council.

Title:  The Shadow CourtAuthor: Jenn Stark
Series: Wilde Justice #4
Release date: September 30, 2019
Description: Don’t you forget about me…

She’s a Tarot-reading artifact hunter finally willing to own her supernatural abilities. He’s the all-powerful Magician of the Arcana Council who once loved her…but now doesn’t remember her, the result of a battle to defeat a terrifying enemy.

Isolated and alone, Sara must race time to help the Magician uncover his ancient knowledge, but can she live with what she finds? Will his dark past destroy them both?

Worse, a rival council, known only as the Shadow Court, has emerged to wage battle against the Arcana Council. And if Sara can’t help the Magician recall how to combat this insidious, mind-bending threat, the world will descend into devastating war.

Love could be your last, best weapon when you confront The Shadow Court.

  • This type of book is not the kind I usually submit for review, but I stumbled onto this series and it looks delicious.  The next book is being released tomorrow, so it gives no time to read #1 or #2.  I read the descriptions and it looks like each book is sort of standalone so…I think this release might call for reading out of order.  It looks too good to pass up.  Besides, I might be on the track of something new to me and exciting!

Demon Bewitched by Jenn Stark

Witches.  They are not nice.  They have their covens and they summon demons to play with them like a cat plays with a mouse.  Now, a witch has to marry a demon.  How’s that going to go for them?

Title:  Demon Bewitched
Author: Jenn Stark
Series: Demon Enforcers #3
Publish Date:  March 19, 2019
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source:  purchased by reviewer

Publisher’s Description:  You say witch like it’s a bad thing…

Former fallen angel, current smokin’ hot enforcer, and all-around demon most likely to get the girl, Stefan of the Syx knows women better than they know themselves. He should, because once upon a time, one of them caused his brutal damnation.

All these millennia later, however, Stefan still can’t resist a pretty smile. So when he learns his chance at redemption entails pairing up with a gorgeous redheaded spitfire, he’s ready to rock—until the other pitchfork drops. Because the bold, impulsive Cressida Frain’s not only a woman, she’s a witch. And a hookup between witches and demons is one of the few hard stops in Stefan’s book of Go.

Unfortunately, this is one offer Stefan can’t refuse. To keep her new position as high priestess for her coven, Cressida must lead her people in an ultimate showdown against evil. To help her succeed, Stefan must allow Cressida to take him, break him and bind him to her—body and soul. But neither of them are prepared for what happens next…

It’s out of the cauldron and into the fire when you’re a Demon Bewitched.

Nervous Nellie’s nervousness necessitates knowledge of the novel. In other words …SPOILERS. *BEWARE*

Nervous Nellie says…

Demon Enforcers are spread pretty thin in this world built by Jenn Stark.  They have to keep the demons in line or destroy them.  The Demon Enforcers are those that agree to become an enforcer for a chance to be redeemed.  The redemption is held in Archangel Michael’s hands and he makes them work thousands of years to get it.

The heroine in this story was stupid.  Okay, she gets a break because she’s young and has no experience, but she was played, man.  Stefan is ordered to deal with Cressida’s situation and he does his best.  The plot was fairly obvious right out of the chute, but the plot wasn’t supposed to be secret from us readers, it was supposed to be secret to the female heroine protagonist.  She fell hook, line and sinker.

There was one brief cameo from the world famous Sara Wilde, which made me all giddy.  How Stefan and Cressida made it through to the end, I have no idea.  It was all pretty touch and go.  Demons with big plans, witches with big plans and Michael with the biggest plan of them all.
