Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 1.3.21
Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip. Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.
Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.
Let’s start the year with comedy. Faith Hunter and several contemporaries have put this book together that takes place in the land of Jane Yellowrock. Anything Jane Yellowrock is golden, so I’m pretty hyped about this new release.
Title: Dirty Deeds
Author: Faith Hunter, Diana Pharaoh Francis ,Devon Monk , and R.J. Blain
Release date: January 12, 2021
Description: Venture into a thrilling spinoff tale from the world of Jane Yellowrock, join vacationing gods in what appears to be a quiet, ordinary town, visit a supernatural hotel where the bedbugs could very well eat you, and dive into the zany, deadly world of the Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) series.
WHOO HOO! A new Harbinger P.I. !
Title: Grave Night
Author: Adam Wright
Series: Harbinger P.I. #10
Release date: January 26, 2021
Description: If you can keep your cool when everyone else is losing theirs…maybe you don’t realize how bad the situation is
Rekhmire the Destroyer wants to annihilate the world (that’s what destroyers do) and he isn’t going to stop until he’s achieved his stretch goal of making everyone a part of his undead army.
Not on my watch. It’s time to send this walking piece of leather back to the tomb he crawled out of. But how am I supposed to do that when he’s immune to all magic and weapons?
A Harbinger’s gotta do what a Harbinger’s gotta do.

Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 9/6/2020
Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip. Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.
- This is an old release, but the series caught my eye. Added plus is that it’s still an ongoing series with the author just releasing book #10, The Kidnapper’s Accomplice.
Title: The Watchmaker’s Daughter
Author: C. J. Archer
Series: Glass and Steele #1
Release date: June 28, 2016
Description: India Steele is desperate. Her father is dead, her fiancé took her inheritance, and no one will employ her, despite years working for her watchmaker father. Indeed, the other London watchmakers seem frightened of her. Alone, poor, and at the end of her tether, India takes employment with the only person who’ll accept her – an enigmatic and mysterious man from America. A man who possesses a strange watch that rejuvenates him when he’s ill.
Matthew Glass must find a particular watchmaker, but he won’t tell India why any old one won’t do. Nor will he tell her what he does back home, and how he can afford to stay in a house in one of London’s best streets. So when she reads about an American outlaw known as the Dark Rider arriving in England, she suspects Mr. Glass is the fugitive. When danger comes to their door, she’s certain of it. But if she notifies the authorities, she’ll find herself unemployed and homeless again – and she will have betrayed the man who saved her life.
With a cast of quirky characters, an intriguing mystery, and a dash of romance, THE WATCHMAKER’S DAUGHTER is the start of a thrilling new historical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Ministry of Curiosities, Freak House, and Emily Chambers Spirit Medium books.
- I just bought from this author books 1-3 on Audible. I listened to the sample and the narrator sounds pretty good. The description of book #1 sounds excellent. This, also, is a long standing series as book #13, Southern Blood, was released August 6, 2020 and the audiobooks are on Audible.com.
Title: Southern Bound
Author: Stuart Jaffe
Series: Max Porter #1
Release date: June 11, 2012
Description: It was supposed to be a new beginning – good job, good pay, and a lovely home in North Carolina.
But when Max Porter discovers his office is haunted by the ghost of a 1940s detective, he is thrust neck-deep into a world of old mysteries and dangerous enemies.
One in which ghosts, witches, curses, and spells exist. One in which a simple research job can turn deadly.

Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt Draft 6/14/20
Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip. Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.
Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.
- This is something new that looks very interesting! Check it out!
Title: A Grimoire Dark: A Horror Thriller
Author: D.S. Quinton
Release date: October 21, 2019
Description: An Orphan Girl.
A Hellish Spirit.
A fight for more than just her life.
When Del Lareaux leaves the St. Augustine orphanage, she is desperate to build a normal life for herself and Jimmy, the mentally handicapped boy she spent years protecting.
But when a hellish spirit is raised from the dark swamps of Louisiana, abominations of unimaginable horror begin to prey on the lost souls of New Orleans, and Del’s soul is the most coveted.
When Del learns the truth of her secret heritage, she is faced with a choice: forego the gift she was born with for the normal life she dreams of, or embrace her birthright and the dark consequences that follow.
A Grimoire Dark explores the Voodoo mythos like never before. Threads of Stephen King and Edgar Allen Poe weave a nightmare veil through which dark elements of a Lovecraftian horror tale are glimpsed; for to view them directly would be ones undoing.
- Small glimpse into a new release in March of 2021
Title: Wild Sign
Author: Patricia Briggs
Series: Alpha & Omega #6
Release date: March 2021
Description: This series is set in the same world as the Mercy Thompson Series, but on a slightly earlier time line. It begins with a novella titled Alpha and Omega published in the On the Prowl anthology. The decision to continue the story was made after the anthology had already been published, which has caused some confusion, since “book 1” is a actually a continuation of the short story. The series has plenty of action, but there’s more emphasis on the romantic attraction between the hero and heroine. On a romance-readers scale, this series is sweet rather than steamy.
- A Charley Davidson Book
Title: The Graveyard Shift
Author: Darynda Jones
Series: Charley Davidson #13.5
Release date: June 9, 2020
Description: Guarding a precocious five-year-old who is half-human, half-god, and 100% destined to save the world is no easy feat.
Garrett Swopes was the ultimate skeptic until he met a certain hellion and her husband. They vanished after stopping a catastrophic event and left him, a mere mortal, in charge of protecting their gift to mankind. But when she disappears as well, he needs the help of another breed of hellion. One who can see past the veil of space and time. One who betrayed him.
She will get a truce in the deal, but she will never earn his forgiveness.
Marika Dubois’s son—a warrior in the coming war between heaven and hell—was foreseen long before his birth. But to create a child strong enough to endure the trials that lay ahead, she needed a descendant of powerful magics. She found that in Garrett Swopes and tricked him into fathering her son. A ploy he has never forgiven her for. But when he knocks on her door asking for her help, she sees the fierce attraction he tries to deny rise within him.
And Marika has to decide if she dares risk her heart a second time to help the only man she’s ever loved.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.
