Nell’s Gossip and Book Hunt 1/26/2020

Welcome to my Sunday book hunt and author gossip.  Keep coming back for updates on book releases and news from favorite authors.

Back with new releases again… they keep writin’ them, we keep readin’ them.

I’m not a normal one to go out looking for science fiction.  Science Fiction to me is outer planets, aliens, and stuff like that.  That’s not to say that I don’t love Star Trek and Star Wars but that’s pretty much where it ends.  With an exception…

Ken Lange is an exception because I got hooked on what I thought was Urban Fantasy but It wasn’t long until the sci fi element came out.  He labels his books “Where Science Fiction and Myth Collide”.  You really should go to his website just to look at it.  The graphics are amazing.  If the book covers and that website doesn’t intrigue you enough to give his characters a try then read the descriptions of the books.  When you poke around on that website…because, well, who wouldn’t want to…you will find under the series, under Plague Bearer link, Ken is willing to give you a free book to try out his writing.  The story is called:

Title:  Cursed Ones, A Vampire Tale
Author:  Ken Lange
Series:  Nine Realms Saga
Description: Em, an explorer obsessed with the Plague Bearer, has stumbled his way into a sacred space on a long-dead world. Searching the ruins, he awakens the Professor, a powerful AI. She served the last vampire king by guiding the recruits of his cult. Slowly, she begins to unveil a past better left forgotten. Will Em discover his life’s ambition or succumb to the Professor, becoming her newest recruit?

Ken has also just released a new book that starts the Plague Bearer series called Dawning.  It’s an OMG-I can’t wait to start this book- kind of description that you’ll read below.

Title:  Dawning
Author:  Ken Lange
Series:  Plague Bearer #1, Nine Realms Saga
Release date: January 14, 2020
Description: It’s a story as old as time: Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve. A family. A murder. A reckoning. Good and evil personified.

You may think you know the story, but you’d be wrong.

After thousands of years, Cain awakens to find that the world has gone on without him. In his slumber humans and people of power have stopped being afraid of—well anything. Beyond that, they’ve become cruel for cruelty’s sake, fascinated with their ability to spread death through famine, war, and even plagues.

In their minds, they have no equal.

They’re wrong.

Thanks to the Norns, his brother’s treachery, his sadistic stepmother, and abusive father, Cain has been out of the loop far too long.

But that’s about to change.

Now he must reconcile his past with his present and complete a near-impossible task to find the peace he’s sought for so long. Before that can be a reality, he’ll need to walk the fine line between monster and man; too much of one and not the other will release a plague upon the world. And there will be blood. Lots of it.

Can he fight his baser nature long enough to do what needs to be done, or will fate get the better of him in the end?

OMG.  New series and look at that cover! Awesome as always, but this is a stand alone series (like all the others) but there is also a link of series within a series.  Each character has their own series and that series fits within the whole master plan.  You don’t have to read all the books if you don’t want to, but you’d get more out of it if you did.  You should really check it out if you like a spoonful or two of sci fi mixed with some urban fantasy.  This author makes the story come alive.
